The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Ltd (LOCOG) has just published its final report and accounts.

The good news is that LOCOG has shown it is possible to run an Olympic Games without causing financial chaos by achieving revenues of £2.41 billion through private sector revenue programmes, whilst containing costs at £2.38 billion.

Chairman of LOCOG, Seb Coe, said: “One of our key objectives was to deliver an outstanding Games within a balanced budget and I am proud to say that we have achieved this, thanks to the strong management of our core finances”

Meanwhile, London is back in the spotlight for equestrian sport with the first Longines Global Champions Tour show jumping to be held in this city. The countdown has begun and excitement is mounting among Britain’s strong horse loving community with nine out of the Top 10 riders on parade at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park less than a year after the Olympic Games.

Nick Skelton, Michael Whitaker, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Christian Ahlmann are among the stars who will be competing for ranking honours and top prize money at the inaugural British GCT event.
