Britain is widely acknowledged as the traditional home of eventing but several countries in Europe, particularly Germany and France, also have a strong standing in the sport.
British Eventing
Many of Britain’s biggest competitions are hosted at prestigious and historic venues such as the Badminton Estate, Burghley House, Chatsworth House and Blair Castle
More than 170 events throughout Britain are managed by the sport’s body, British Eventing, during the March to October season, with competitions from introductory level through to the highest international level at CCI5*. There are also a growing number of Unaffiliated events that take place around the country
Britain boats the current team Olympic champions (Laura Collett, Oliver Townend and Tom McEwen) having taken team gold at Tokyo 2020 where Tom McEwen also won individual silver
The depth and breadth of Britain’s riders was shown when Olympic victory was followed by the young British rider Yasmin Ingham taking the Individual World Championship at Pratoni Del Vivaro, Italy in 2022, making her the third female World Champion in a row after Ros Canter (GBR) at Tryon in 2018 and Sandra Auffarth (GER) at Normandy in 2014

Germany and France are both past Olympic team gold medallists but they are not the only countries in Europe with a strong standing in the sport. Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands and Sweden are just some of the countries that regularly host international competitions on home soil and Poland has also become a significant host of eventing competitions
Our featured events in the UK and Europe include many of the world’s top eventing competitions at historic and well-known venues as well as more local events run at national level in the UK.
Throughout the season we also visit some of Europe’s most beautiful eventing venues and important championships such as Le Lion d’Angers Young Eventing Horse World Championships in France and the European Championships to bring you stunning photographs and the latest information
