Last year, Italy hosted the FEI Eventing World Championships at Pratoni Del Vivaro and this week it welcomes the competitors for the FEI Young Rider and Junior European Eventing Championships

From 13th – 17th September, the most eagerly awaited Youth Eventing dates on the FEI 2023 international calendar will be in the spotlight at the Centro Militare di Equitazione (Horse Riding Military Centre) at Montelibretti

While Pratoni is located south of Rome in the beautiful lakes region of Lazio, its sister venue at Montelibretti is on the outskirts of northern Rome where three popular international eventing competitions are held each year in February, March and November, including a leg of the FEI Nations Cup.

Montelibretti also hosted the European Eventing Young Rider and Junior Championships in 2016.

This week 123 horse and rider combinations, representing the future elite of eventing, will take part in the European Championships with 12 teams in the Junior European Championship and seven combinations competing as individuals. In the Young Rider European Championship, there will be nine teams with four individuals taking part.

The first horses arrived in Montelibretti’s stables on Sunday and the official programme begins on Wednesday 13th, with the first horse inspection and the Opening Ceremony featuring a demonstration of the parachutists from the Centro Sportivo dell’Esercito di Pisa (Parachuting Section of the Army Sport Centre).

Competition starts on Thursday 14 September with two days of dressage, cross country on Saturday and show jumping on Sunday.
