All horses presented to the Ground Jury of President Anne-Mette Binder (DEN), Peter Gray (CAN) and Joanne Jarden (IRE) passed the eventing second horse inspection at the 2026 FEI World Championship Aachen on Sunday morning.
The field had already thinned by five horses with Tamie Smith (USA) withdrawing Lillet 3, Carlos Parro (BRA) withdrawing Safira, Ryuzo Kitajima (JPN) withdrawing Feroza Nieuwmoed, Kento Nagura (JPN) withdrawing Vinci de la Vigne JRA and Daniel Dunst (AUT) withdrawing Chevalier 97 before the vet check.
Tamie was the highest placed after cross country in 27th place, riding as an individual but the withdrawals of the two Japanese horses resulted in the decimation of the Japanese team while Austria and Brazil both lost another combination.
At the pointier end of the team leaderboard Felix Vogg’s Freida, Julia Krajewski’s Uelzener's Nickel and Lara De Liedekerke’s Kiarado d'Arville were all sent to the Holding Box during the second horse inspection but accepted on re-presenting.
65 horses now go forward to the showjumping with the first session of showjumping starting at 1pm and the second session (Top 25) at 3:30pm
