The Box Office for the 2023 Badminton Horse Trials is now open with Priority Booking (those who have previously purchased tickets in advance) having opened on Wednesday 4th January and Public Booking to open on Wednesday 11th January

Once again, ticket sales will be available by Advance Booking only with no sales on the gate, a new system introduced in 2022 that helped alleviate traffic congestion as well as providing confirmed sales for the event in advance, vital for some of the planning processes.

The original dates for 2023 have changed slightly due to the event coinciding with the Coronation of King Charles and the Queen Consort on Saturday 6th May and a Bank Holiday scheduled for Monday 8th May. The event now runs from May 5th -8th with dressage on Friday and Saturday, cross-country on Sunday and the show jumping finale on Monday.

The first horse inspection will take place on Thursday 4th and dressage on Saturday will start at 8am to fit in a break to watch the Coronation on the big screens, after which the dressage will resume.

Sunday’s cross country day is always the highlight and there are several changes for 2023 says Event Director Jane Tuckwell, including the course taking in a route that has not been used previously

“The course always evolves, and Eric is a great one for thinking ahead” says Jane in the latest Badminton podcast “There has been quite a big landscaping project that will encompass a new complex of fences and take them into ground that they’ve never been into before

“That will make it more undulating – Badminton has always been known as very a very flat course, so those who come to Badminton because its flat and their horses don’t like hills, may need to start doing some hill work and getting their horses a bit fitter!”

There are plans to ‘open up the Luckington Lane area’ and ‘tweaks here and there, so it will have a different look to it”

Badminton will be the third competition on the 2023 CCI5* calendar, following the Adelaide Equestrian Festival (AUS), with new dates, and Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event (USA)
