We’re on the final countdown to Badminton and two last minute withdrawals now see just New Zealand’s Tayla Mason left on the Wait List
Austria’s Lea Siegl has withdrawn DSP Fighting Line, saying that “Unfortunately Fighting Line suffered a minor injury in the stable at the final Austrian training camp before Badminton”
He is now fit and well, but with the magnitude of the Badminton 5* Lea felt that it was not in the horse’s best interest to make the journey from Austria to compete.
“I’m very sad that Badminton was not meant to be for Fighty and I this year. Unfortunately, he picked up a minor injury in the stable at our final training session. He is fit and well but not the 110% that I would want him to be for a 5* like Badminton”.
New Zealand’s Samantha Lissington has also withdrawn Ricky Ridge Sooty GNZ with the horse ‘having not pulled up 100% from his gallop this morning” but the problem is nothing major and Sam hopes to re-route to Luhmuhlen in June.
Harry Meade has also confirmed that his two rides at Badminton will be Superstition and Cavalier Crystal while Annaghmore Valoner ‘has missed some fitness work and will be re-routed elsewhere’.
Just one combination remains on the Wait List with New Zealand’s Tayla Mason keen to get a run on Centennial and Badminton is doing everything it can to help, advising “Event Director Jane Tuckwell shared with Tayla Mason of New Zealand, the final athlete on the waiting list, that she will be accepted to compete if anyone withdraws before 12 noon on Tuesday. We hope this gives Tayla every chance of competing in the unfortunate event that another athlete has to withdraw”
