Tim Price is currently the King of Barbury Castle but another Kiwi, who has held the title many times, is right behind him.

Tim, riding his Tokyo horse Vitali, leads the CCI4*-S at Barbury on a score of 25.6 with Andrew Nicholson in second place on his 2019 CCI4* Barbury winner Swallow Springs and Ailsa Waites riding Woodlands Persuasion in third (30.2)

It was quite a day for the greys with Austin O'Connor riding Kinnordy Rhondo in fourth place (30.4), another rider who is heading to Tokyo as Ireland's P Alternate Athlete with Colorado Blue

Andrew Nicholson (above on Swallow Springs) has won this class five times at Barbury

The dressage for the CCI4*-s continues tomorrow with show jumping and cross country on Saturday, brought forward a day to enable Tokyo-bound horses to make their quarantine deadlines. As Vitali is one of those, it will be interesting to see if Tim runs him on cross country or if they will just do the dressage and show jumping phases …..

The CCI3*-S Section B also started the dressage phase on Thursday with Harry Meade and Monbeg Medlar leading the way in that section ahead of Georgie Campbell (whose husband Jesse will be joining Tim and Jonelle Price on the New Zealand team in Tokyo) riding Jakzent Tren in second place (29.2) and Cassandra Price riding Ambassadors Disguise in third (29.5)

Jonelle Price was on 'mum' duty today but joins the competition tomorrow

Throughout the four days of the competition more than 700 horses will be competing in the grounds of the Barbury Castle estate. Alongside the International classes, there will be a wide range of National classes, including the Novice Masters – an exciting new British Eventing competition for riders at Intermediate Novice level.

We are delighted to be supporting this new series and have special cross country video prizes and discounts for the Novice Masters Sections running at Barbury, Little Downham (2) and Allerton Park

Prizes at the ready, including our cross country videos for the Novice Masters
