Stuart Buntine talks about the Belton bombshell

The gates have closed for Belton International

After another successful year at Belton International Horse Trials in March 2019, a bombshell was dropped by the National Trust last week regarding the future, or rather lack of it, of one of the UK’s biggest British Eventing venues

On April 30th the BBC carried the news that the National Trust had made the decision to axe the event at Belton Park due to “the risk of ‘irreparable damage’ to parkland”

It came as a big surprise, and not a pleasant one, for Bede Events who has run the major pre-Badminton fixture (“Belton is to Badminton what Queens is to Wimbledon”) but Stuart Buntine is undeterred and is already close to finding a suitable replacement venue for 2020 onwards

“It's a good week for real estate" says Stuart "I’ve been offered three castles and five stately homes this week!”
