Entries have opened for the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials in three years and international riders are the first in. Australian based Sarah Clark riding LV Balou Jeanz is among the first entries along with three US entries from Emily Hamel, who we visited at her base in the UK, Meghan O’ Donoghue and Cornelia Dorr, who is based at Kevin and Emma McNab’s yard in Surrey for the season

The Wesko Foundation’s Kristina Hall-Jackson riding CMS Google, who went so well at Bramham, is also in the early mix

To watch the action from the Burghley House estate, the big event has just launched a new digital TV service with Burghley TV combining comprehensive livestream footage of the CCI5* event with expert commentary, analysis and behind-the-scenes footage and interviews.

As well as live coverage from the first horse inspection on 31st August to the final prize-giving on 4th September, the Burghley TV package will include an exclusive preview of the cross-country course, which is designed for the first time this year by the USA’s Derek di Grazia, and in-depth interviews with some of the sport’s most popular characters, including an ‘At Home’ feature with reigning champion and Rolex Grand Slam winner Pippa Funnell.

The service costs £20 per year and is subscription-only. Viewers can subscribe via the www.burghley-horse.co.uk website, with the service also available via the Apple TV, Android TV and Amazon Fire apps.

BBC 2 will continue to broadcast a highlights programme from Land Rover Burghley on the afternoon of Sunday 4th September 2022.
