Caroline Powell supports young eventing riders

New Zealand’s Caroline Powell this week announced support for three up and coming young riders through her long-time sponsors, Equine Products UK Ltd.

The Olympic bronze medallist recognised that sometimes young riders need “a little bit of a leg up” and used her our sponsorship relationship to arrange support for these three talented riders – Lucinda Crawford (16, Scotland), Zara Lye (17, Suffolk) and Leilia Paske (16, Suffolk).

“I’m so grateful for this opportunity and very much looking forward to seeing a difference, because good products help us win great prizes” commented Zara, who competed at Intermediate level during the 2017 season and enjoyed completing the CCI** at Barbury Castle as part of the youth development squad.  2018 sees her aim for her first Advanced and consolidate her 2* experience and form.

As part of the support package, the former Burghley winner, Caroline has selected a number of products from the Equine Products UK range that she has used with her own horses and that she believes the girls will benefit from in the run up to and during the 2018 season.

“When I came over to the UK from New Zealand for the first time, I realised that this sport is a very hard sport to break into. I see these guys working really really hard, come rain or shine, they are out there riding their horses and doing school work and doing a really good job to balance it all.  We’ve got fantastic sponsors in Equine Products UK and I just think they deserve and could really benefit from a bit of a leg up” Caroline Powell.

“I’m really looking forward to moving up to 2* in 2018 and consolidating our Intermediate form and I’m therefore really excited to be able to work with and benefit from these products to give me the competitive edge. I’m so grateful to both Equine Products UK and to Caroline for this opportunity” says Lucinda, who won the Best Scottish Under 18 Rider award and placed 6th at the National Under 18 Championships in 2017. She was also selected to travel and compete at Millstreet in Ireland for the under 18 development squad and to Waregrem in Belgium as part of the Junior Nations Cup.

All three young riders train with Caroline, either at her Suffolk base or in Scotland, on a regular basis, which is where the talent, hard work and dedicated was recognised by Caroline.

“I’m very excited to experience and see the difference in performance of my horses next year after using the Equine Products range.  Thank you to everyone who made this possible.” says Leilia who completed her first CIC** at Aldon in 2017, finishing 20th, after winning their first Intermediate at South of England. Leilia travelled to Millstreet as part of the youth development squad and is excited about stepping up to Advanced level in 2018.
