Le Grand Complet Nations Cup at Haras Le Pin 2021

France is holding on at the FEI Eventing Nations Cup, Haras Le Pin

The three top teams of the six competing in the FEI Eventing Nations Cup at Le Grand Complet, Haras Le Pin all added penalties in the show jumping phase of the CCIO4*-S on Saturday

But the French team retained the lead by a small margin of 3.4 penalties ahead of The Netherlands and New Zealand as they head out on Pierre Le Goupil’s cross country course on Sunday

In the Individual competition the overnight leader, Germany’s Josephine Schnaufer-Völkel riding Pasadena 217, added 0.4 time penalties in the show jumping while New Zealand’s Tim Price and Happy Boy jumped clear so they are now separated by just 0.4 penalties. France’s Gwendolin Fer is now in third place with Traumprinz

The cross country course of 23 obstacles (33 efforts) at Haras Le Pin, location of the 2014 World Equestrian Games cross country, starts on Sunday 15th August at 8:30 am

The CCI2*-S Ustica Trophy completed on Saturday with a perfect clear round for Mathieu Chombart (FRA) to take the title on Big Boss Melo. It was a full French podium with double Rio Olympic medallist, Astier Nicolas in second place on Diese Cot Chat and Tokyo 2020 bronze team medallist Nicolas Touzaint third with Eboli
