Could we all be visiting Strzegom if Poland succeeds in its bid for the Olympic Games in 2036?

Poland will be competing in eventing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, having qualified a team at the Group C 2023 FEI Designated Olympic Qualification Event at Baborowko Equestrian Festival in May this year, but could they be hosting the Olympics in a few years’ time?

Poland has advised that it intends to be one of the nations aiming to host the Olympic Games in 2036 with its first ever bid for a Summer Games.

Poland now joins Indonesia, Mexico, Turkey, and India, who are all interested in staging the Games in 2036 and are vying for the honour under the new IOC system of Olympic Games allocation.

If successful, Poland certainly has some excellent eventing venues that have come to prominence in recent years. Under the leadership of Marcin Konarski, a former eventing rider and now international course designer and FEI official, Strzegom runs six international eventing competitions each year, hosted the FEI Senior European Eventing Championships in 2017 and the FEI Pony Eventing Championships in 2022.

The Polish venue at Baborowko also hosts international eventing, driving and jumping competitions each year.

The Summer Games will be held in Paris next year, where the Chateau of Versailles will host the equestrian competition and will be followed by Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane in 2032.
