First horse inspection at Le Mondial Du Lion

World Champion Ros Canter presents Izilot DHI in her Union Jack face mask

The first horse inspection is complete at the FEI WBFSH World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses at the Haras National at l'Isle de Briand in Le Lion d’Angers, France

All horses passed in both sections with 38 combinations now starting in the Six-Year-Old CCI2*-L having presented in front of ground jury members Sandy Phillips (GBR), Laure Eslan (FRA), and Gerd Kuest (GER)

42 horses passed in the Seven-Year-Old Championship class in front of the ground jury members Gerd Kuest (GER), Judy Hancock (GBR), and Ciska van Meggelen (NED).

Masks are of course a standard part of procedures now and, although there were none quite as flamboyant as those at Osberton’s Masked Ball horse inspection, some of the British riders were flying the flag with their Union Jack masks to help raise awareness for the Chalkdown Group Riding, part of the Riding for the Disabled Association

Lara De Liedekerke-Meier will kick it off in the dressage for the 6-Year-Old class on Thursday at 9:30am with Kitty King on Monbeg Hendricks and Tom McEwen riding MHS Brown Jack as ones to watch

      Kevin McNab and Cute Girl

Australia’s two competitors, Bella English and Kevin McNab, have a restful day with their two horses, Glenorchy and Cute Girl, scheduled for Friday along with New Zealand’s Samantha Lissington riding Ricker Ridge Ricochet

The Seven-Year-Old class commences in the afternoon with a host of good combinations but keep an eye out for Laura Collett riding Moonlight Charmer and Tom Carlile’s Darmagnac De Beliard

Spectators are not allowed but there is a livestream and live scoring on the links below

We’ll also be providing video highlights and full wrap up each day on the website for our 5* Members (not a member yet – enjoy our $1 Trial Offer) and through our social media channels so stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more …..
