Heidi Coy - Top Under 21 British Eventing rider in 2019

19 year old Heidi Coy has just returned from a ‘non-horsey’ trip to Australia and New Zealand to discover that she is the winner of the 2019 British Eventing Goldman Cup

The Goldman Cup is awarded annually to the leading rider aged under 21 at the end of the season and past recipients such as Lucinda Green, Ginny Leng, William Fox-Pitt, Pippa Nolan (now Funnell), Oliver Townend and more recently Tom McEwen have all gone on to represent Britain at the highest level of senior competition

A bronze medal at the FEI Young Rider European Championships in Maarsbergen aboard her own Royal Fury, a horse she has produced since he was a four-year-old who also won silver at the FEI Junior European Championships in 2018, two strong placings at Le Lion d’Angers World Young Horse Championships on Halenza and Russal Z, winning the Open Intermediate U21 on Carrigsean Tigerseye at Belton International and three impressive places at the British Under 21 Young Rider Championship at Houghton International (4th, 5th and 6th places) all helped to cement taking the Goldman Cup with 410 points

In second place, only five points behind Heidi, Bubby Upton finished 2019 with 405 points after another wonderful season. Among her many strong performances, Bubby added a silver medal at the Young Rider European Championship in Maarsbergen riding Cola III, who also won the CCI3*-S at Belton Park International
