One to watch - Kazuma Tomoto

Kazuma Tomoto and Brookpark Vikenti on course at Blenheim

Japan's Kazuma Tomoto leapt into our hearts as he very nearly caused the upset of the day in the CIC3* 8/9 Year Old horse class at the SsangYong Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials when he missed out on the win by just 0.1 penalty.

34 year old Kazu and Brookpark Vikenti, a nine year old Irish Sport Horse previously ridden by Michael Ryan, have had a good year with three top  six finishes  - twice fifth at Barbury and Burnham Market at 2* level and second at Blenheim behind Chris Burton in a class full of talent

Kazu led from the dressage phase on a score of 40.7, added nothing in the showjumping and jumped one of the fastest clear rounds on cross country to come home with just two time penalties.

Kazu has been based with William Fox-Pitt, who says that Kazu is a very good rider and equally hard working, since June this year and he told us a little more about himself
