Becky Woolven - best British first timer at Burghley

27 year old Becky Woolven came to this year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials with the aim of ‘just wanting to jump clear across country’ at her first ever CCI4* event but she did much better than that

At the first horse inspection Becky was chosen as the Best Dressed Female, her horse Charlton Down Riverdance won the Best Presented Horse at the second horse inspection and she finished as the best British first-timer in 17th place

They were 33rd after the dressage, jumped clear with 32.8 time penalties around the cross country and had eight faults in the show jumping, putting her ahead of many more experienced combinations

The impressive looking 17.1h Charlton Down Riverdance (known as Socks due his spotty white leg markings) certainly attracted lots of fans at his 4* debut and we will hopefully be seeing him next year at Badminton
