The Burghley winning owners' story

The owners of Nobilis 18 (L-R) Sue Lawson, Carolyn and Anthony Townsend and rider Chris Burton are presented with the Land Rover Perpetual Challenge Trophy

It is always a thrill for owners when their eventing horse wins a competition but it is a real achievement when the win is one as big as the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

The owners of this year’s winning horse Nobilis 18, Sue Lawson and Carolyn and Anthony Townsend, were on the edge of their seats on the final day of show jumping as Chris sealed the deal despite a few rails down. Many in Australia will know of Carolyn and Anthony as the parents of Alex Townsend, eventing rider and owner of the beautiful Wallaby Hill Farm which is fast becoming one of the eventing venues in Australia

We spoke to Carolyn, Anthony and Sue about how Alex was instrumental in convincing her parents to buy this lovely horse for Chris and find out that there are two more waiting in the wings for possible future stardom
