British Eventing Award winners gathered at Warwick Racecourse on the 14th February 2020 to celebrate their achievements in 2019
Among them was Leilia Paske, the winner of the Gatehouse 2* league in 2019, who earned 33 points at 2* level throughout the season aboard her own Fernhill First Friend
Leilia and the 14-year-old gelding Fernhill First Friend enjoyed early wins at Poplar Park and Chilham Castle (1) in the Open Novice U18 sections but it was at Frickley Park in July that they scored a big one, winning their first ever international class, the CCI2*YR-L and catapulting them to the top of the Gatehouse League
“I would like to thank Gatehouse for this award” said Leilia “I am especially pleased to have won on Fernhill First Friend (Yam), my first eventer! Winning the 2* league is the icing on the cake following an amazing season for me”
As well as her first international win in 2019, Leilia also brought home team individual and silver medals from the 2019 Junior European Eventing Championships riding Billy McFee; in December Leilia and Billy McFee were named on the 2020 British Eventing Youth Performance Development Squad.
