11 nations and 68 competitors, including eight riders from the world's top 10, the European Champion, the World Champion and several Olympic medallists, are entered for the CCI5* at Les Etoiles de Pau in France from 23rd – 26th October 2025.
Among them four former champions – Astier Nicolas (2015), Tom McEwen (2019), Tim Price (2021) and Jonelle Price (2022) are back this year to try and match the feat of William Fox-Pitt, who won the event in 2011 and 2013.
The British are descending en masse for the only French CCI5* with 28 riders, some bringing multiple horses, including European Champion Laura Collett with Dacapo and Hester, Tom McEwen riding Brookfield Quality, who finished third here last year, and Oliver Townend with his multiple 5* winner, Ballaghmor Class. Tom is also listed with JL Dublin but we have been informed that 'Dubs' will be staying home and enjoying a well-deserved rest after a successful year.
New Zealand has 11 combinations with Tim and Jonelle Price bringing four apiece with Jonelle riding Senor Crocodillo, Hiarado, Grappa Nera and her Scone Palace International winner Capitaine de Hus Z and Tim on board CHIO 20, Global Quest, Happy Boy and Jarillo. The in-form Samantha Lissington will be competing Ricker Ridge Sooty GNZ, Abby Long will ride Henton Audacious and Jesse Campbell brings Cooley Lafitte.
The USA also have a strong presence with nine combinations including Boyd Martin on two – Cooley Nutcracker and Fedarman B, making it a busy 5* month for him with Maryland at Fair Hill and Pau back-to-back.
Australia has one entry in Bill Levett riding RNH Tom Tom and the home side of France has four combinations to cheer on
