New Zealand's Tim Price has withdrawn Falco, leaving his other two horses Spartaco and Vitali on the nominated entries

Four new entries have been added from Britain, with Oliver Townend bringing forward Dreamliner, winner of the CCI4*-S at Chatsworth last weekend, and Lukas.

Fiona Kashel will also be riding WSF Cathargo and Jo Rimmer riding Isaac Newton now gives Britain 17 entries on the list

The Longines Luhmühlen Horse Trials entry list reveals a strong international field with a total of 20 nations represented and 38 combinations in the CCI5*

Many top stars of the international eventing scene will be competing in the Longines CCI5*-L and the CCI4*-S Meßmer Trophy (German Championships), aiming not only to take home a win but hoping to impress the selectors to secure one of the coveted starting places for the World Championships, which will be held in Pratoni, Italy, in September.

“In just a few weeks we will be welcoming some of the best international horses and riders. We are very much looking forward to seeing these exceptional athletes shine again in front of an audience on a big stage”, says event director Julia Otto.

As announced by Germany’s Chef d’Equipe Peter Thomsen, almost the entire German Olympic squad of Sandra Auffarth, Andreas Dibowski, Michael Jung, Dirk Schrade, Anna Siemer and Christoph Wahler have entered, mainly in the CCI4*-S.

Ingrid Klimke however is no longer on the entry list, having withdrawn EQUISTROs Siena Just Do It, who finished second in the CCIO4*-S at Pratoni last weekend, where her top horse SAP Hale Bob was also injured on cross country

Michael Jung is planning to compete Highlighter in the CCI4*-S Meßmer Trophy saying that “Luhmühlen is a special event for me because I have so many great memories of competing here. I am really looking forward to coming back this year!”

 

   Ros Canter and Pencos Crown Jewel

 

Britain has a strong line-up of 13 in the CCI5* headed by reigning World Champion and Badminton 2022 runner-up Ros Canter riding Pencos Crown Jewel, who just took third place in the CCI4*-S at Chatsworth, and Tom McEwen, 2020 Olympic team gold and individual silver medallist, who has entered two horses in Bob Chaplin and Braveheart.

Bubby Upton is riding Cannavaro in the CCI5* and will be competing the past Chris Burton ride Jefferson 18 in the CCI4*

The only entry from Australia is Andrew Hoy, competing Creevagh Cooley in the CCI4* but New Zealand has six combinations in the CCI5*. Jonelle and Tim Price plan to compete four horses, including Jonelle’s Luhmühlen 2018 winner Faerie Dianimo and Tim’s Olympic mount Vitali along with Jesse Campbell riding Diachello and Bundy Philpott riding Tresca NZPH, re-routing from Badminton

Ireland has seven entries in the CCI5* including Cathal Daniels’ two horses, his 2019 bronze winning mare at the 2019 European Championships in Luhmühlen, Rioghan Rua, and Leb Lias Jewel

Liz Halliday-Sharp riding Cooley Quicksilver, Matthew Flynn riding Wizzerd and Lauren Nicholson riding Vermiculus are competing in the CCI5* for the USA and Will Coleman is bringing Chin Tonic HS for the CCI4* while Sweden has several combinations, mainly aimed at the CCI4*
