Luhmuhlen Horse Trials 2026 entry lists

Australia's Isabel English and Cil Dara Dallas will be contesting the CCI4*-S Meßmer Trophy this year

 

The entry lists for the Longines Luhmuhlen Horse Trials have been published with 30 combinations set to contest the CCI5* and 63 in the CCI4*-S Meßmer Trophy.

This is one of the 5* events where the CCI4*-S class is just as interesting as the 5* with the Meßmer Trophy class also hosting the German Championships. Traditionally a venue where the German selectors look for potential Championship combinations, other countries now seem to be following suit. 

This year eight combinations listed on the 2026 German Olympic Squad are entered for the 4*, including Julia Krajewski on last year’s winner Uelzener’s Nickel and Tullabeg Platinum. Interestingly however Michael Jung is not entered with either of his Squad listed horses, but fischerChipmunk showed he was on great form at Marbach CCIO4* last weekend.

Australia has two entries in the CCI5* class with Bill Levett on board both Sligo Candy Cane and RNH Tom Tom R and six in the CCI4*-S. 

Isabel (Bella) English returns with two rides on Cil Dara Dallas, who finished ninth in the 5* here last here, and Cil Dara Bombay S, Andrew Hoy and his Tokyo medallist Vassily De Lassos and Kevin McNab with Faro Imp will be looking to impress the selectors while Europe-based Grace Kay riding Bluefields Cello and Hannah Klep riding Tulara Chicouve, who have just arrived from Australia, will be having their first start at the big Luhmuhlen 4*.

Seven New Zealanders have opted for the 4* class too in Tim Price on Jarillo and Falco, Jonelle Price on Capitaine de Hus Z, Hollie Field on Ballycoskerry Regal Diamond, Dan Jocelyn on Blackthorn Cruise and Samantha Lissington on Lucas Stone and Ricker Ridge Sooty GNZ, who took second place in the 5* here last year. 

There are also six Kiwi combinations in the CCI5* in Tim Price on Happy Boy, Vicky Browne-Cole riding Cutting Edge, Abby Jones riding Henton Audacious, Samantha Lissington riding Delarado, Jonelle Price riding Grappa Nera and James Avery riding Dallas.
