Oliver Townend wins Arena Eventing at Swedish International

Oliver Townend won the CIC3* at Aus3DE in 2016 on catch ride Napoleon

World Number One, Oliver Townend has once again shown what a horseman he is by taking the win at the Swedish International Horse Show Indoor Arena Eventing

Oliver won the class on the catch ride Happy Hour af Bjornklo, a 10-year-old mare that he had first ridden only a few hours before. Oliver beat two German riders, Peter Thomsen on Cool Charly Blue and Calvin Bockmann riding Crunchip M.

Swedish riders Niklas Lindback and Vendela Eriksdotter Rubin took fourth and fifth places while Britain’s Tom McEwen took sixth place on the Swedish warmblood mare Coco Chanel. Alex Bragg was the only other British rider, finishing in 11th place on Laphroig

In past years riders have won a John Deere tractor, a prize rather difficult to transport home but this year Oliver can tow it home as he won a horse trailer, worth €10,000

In 2016 Oliver won the (then) CIC3* on a catch ride, Napoleon, borrowed from Tim Boland and he told us more about his techniques for riding new horses
