Firle is the Place to be

While the north of England is the focus of International level eventing competition this weekend, Firle is the Place to be for eventing in the south of England

The event takes place at the striking Firle Place in East Sussex and is set in hundreds of acres of luscious English countryside, complemented by Firle Place’s gardens and grounds. The perfect eventing venue, it is situated in the heart of East Sussex, just a short drive from the South coast and easily accessible from surrounding areas such as Brighton and Eastbourne.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the eventing action centres around national level with classes from BE80(T) to Open Novice but it isn’t just about the equestrian activity.

The Firle Place Country Fair is part of the horse trials providing plenty of games and funfair rides to enjoy and the other four-legged family member gets a look-in too. The Gun Dog Scurry is a hugely popular element of the Firle Place Country Fair, putting your pet to the test to see which dog can retrieve the dummies the quickest and there is a ‘have-a-go’ dog agility arena! With obstacles, jumps and tunnels for dogs of all shapes and sizes, the dog agility show is always a fun watch - even if you don’t have a dog of your own

For others ‘aiming’ to do something a bit different, you can add some target practice to your day out with the Archery Area at Firle. Pick up a bow and arrow and have a go with expert help on hand to offer training and advice before putting on a show of their own later in the day.
