23-year-old amateur eventer and vlogger, Megan Elphick graduated university last year and has been following her passion of horses since, quite often with her wonderful mum in tow (and tow being the operative word as you will see from Megan’s vlog below)

Megan and Jamelia (Jam) headed to Swalcliffe Park Horse Trials on the very wet Sunday and surpassed all expectations by winning the BE80(T), possibly qualifying for Burghley BE80 Championships later in the year, and winning one of our cross country videos and a lesson with Bill Levett, at Jam’s first ever event

“Jam is my six-year-old, 15.1h Connemara mare” Megan told us “Although she’s six she was only broken in less than a year after we imported her from Ireland as a four-year-old and we then had a foal from her”

“Winning at Swalcliffe was particularly special as it was actually her first ever event so took us completely by surprise. In fact, because of the rain we have had leading up to the event, she had never even been cross country schooling, so she was very much learning on the job around the course. I was so thrilled with her and am hoping to aim her for the Burghley 80 Championships later in the year”

Megan chronicled her day out in her latest vlog which is well worth a watch below – grab a cup of coffee and settle in for a virtual day of eventing plus you read our full wrap up from Swalcliffe here

And for all those riders at the recent Tonimbuk International Horse Trials in Australia who were concerned about the ground conditions – THIS IS MUD!
