“After a nightmare journey we finally made it to Poland where things got 100 times better” says 20-year-old British rider Phoebe Locke on her Facebook page after winning the CCI4*-S and finishing second in the CCI2*-L at the Strzegom October Festival in Poland

Phoebe is no stranger to international competition, the most recent success at Young Rider Championships being team gold at the Junior and Young Rider European Championships at Maarsbergen in 2019 as well as being the 2019 British Young Rider Champion, but winning your first 4* at just 20 is a real feather in the cap

Riding Pica D’Or, Phoebe moved from 13th to 7th place after a clear show jumping round and then secured victory with a clear jumping cross-country round and just a few time faults.

Second place went to Katrin Norling (SWE) with Fernando-Ukato, and third to Elmo Jankari with Soraya 243, impressively moving up from 28th place after the show jumping. The leader after dressage, Yoshiaki Oiwa with Bart L JRA, who won the 4*-L at Strzegom in July, finished fourth.

Phoebe also finished in second place of the CCI2*-L with Clotaire de Ferivel
