Pippa Royle wins British Eventing Jane Rook Trophy

It wasn’t just the big horses and riders that were recognised at the recent British Eventing Awards dinner with Pippa Royle receiving the Jane Rook Trophy – presented to the highest placed British competitor in the current year’s European Eventing Championship for Ponies – for her fifth-place finish with Midnight Engagement in Strzegom, Poland.

Pippa and Midnight Engagement were selected for the British Pony Championship team after good results early in the season, starting with second place at Lincolnshire Horse Trials, taking the runner-up spot in the British Pony Championship at Belsay International and third place in the Pony Trials at Barbury International

Britain finished just off the podium at the European Championship for Ponies in fourth place but Pippa and Midnight Engagement added just 0.8 of a time penalty in the show jumping phase to jump from 27th to 5th place individually and finish the best of the British riders
