RIP Bayro

Tim Lips and Bayro competing at Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Tim Lips’ Rio 2016 Olympic mount, Bayro has sadly died during an operation for colic

“This morning we had to say goodbye to my favourite horse Bayro with a lot of pain in our hearts” says Tim on his Facebook page

The 14-year-old grey gelding was on track to represent the Netherlands at another Olympic Games after finishing sixth in the FEI European Championships CCI4*-L at Luhmuhlen in 2019, winning the CCI4*-L at Sopot and CCI4*-S at Strzegom

We first saw Bayro in competition at Blenheim International in 2014 when they finished seventh overall in the CIC3* */9YO class, taking it slowly on cross country after leading the dressage and show jumping phases

“He is really my dream horse” Tim told us then “He is so good in his mind”

RIP Bayro – we’ll miss you
