Townend on top in 2017

Britain’s Oliver Townend had a year to remember in 2017

He finished the year as the top rider in the UK on the British Eventing leader board with 1,698 points 174 points clear of second placed rider Izzy Taylor on 1,524 points. It is the fourth year in a row that Oliver has taken the honour, thanks to his busy schedule and success at all levels

Oliver had more than 220 national and international starts in 2017, starting the year as he meant to go on with early wins at Burnham Market International

Other notable results included team gold at the FEI European Eventing Championships in Strzegom, winning at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, being crowned the Intermediate champion at the Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe and a win in the CCI3* at Ballindenisk International Horse Trials.
