Richmond Horse Trials (1) may have been cancelled in April this year due to the weather, but the beautiful North Yorkshire event is back for its second event of the season this week.

Richmond Horse Trials (2) takes place over two days at the Richmond Equestrian Centre with competition running on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th July.

The Friday classes include Novice and Intermediate levels with Oliver Townend, Kristina Hall-Jackson, Richard Coney and Alex Hua Tian among the entries for the Open Intermediate plus two other packed sections of Intermediate.

While some of the southern events are struggling for entries, with Chilham Castle having just cancelled, it seems that the northern events are booming, with Richmond (2) full across the classes and big names such as Caroline Powell, Emily King and young multi-medallist Finn Healy all opting to compete in the Novice sections here this week.

The Novice and Intermediate classes are also qualifiers for eligible riders for the Arena Saddles Novice League and Investec Intermediate League, which culminates in the final at Osberton International Horse Trials in October.

Saturday sees the BE100 and BE90 take to the arenas and rolling cross country courses designed by James Innes & Moray Nicholson that are always beautifully presented and great fun for spectators.
