In between winning a record third Badminton, heading to the next 5* at Luhmuhlen as defending champion and being super-mum, Ros Canter still has plenty of time and energy for her up and coming equine stars. And three of them will be in action in the CCI3*-S at the Aspen Cooling Osberton (1) International Horse Trials this week, which starts with the 3* and 2* dressage on Thursday.
Ros has Silvesters Finesse, Broadstone Lion Man and Armscote Explorer in the big 3* class which wraps up with the second day of dressage, showjumping and cross country on Friday. We’ve also spotted a familiar name from Australia on the 3* start list with India’s Shashank Kataria having hot-footed it from winning the CCI3*-S at Quirindi last weekend to compete his FEI Asian Championship team silver medal winning horse Bullseye, who has been kept ticking over with Kevin McNab in the UK.
Friday also sees the Advanced Intermediate, Open Intermediate, Intermediate and one Novice class taking place with Zara Tindall, Piggy March and Oliver Townend other big names to keep an eye on.
The Arena Saddles CCI2*-S wraps up on Saturday alongside the CCI1*-S and CCI1*-S for Ponies and Novice classes plus the RoR Championships contested at BE90, BE100 and Novice levels while Sunday focuses on the BE90, BE100 and BE105 competitors.
And who will be the Leading Rider? As at Thoresby International, where Lizzie Baugh took the first £500 cheque as the Succeed Leading Rider, placing points will also be awarded to each rider at Osberton (1), with the top point scorer taking home the cash bonus.
