Belsay Castle will welcome its first CCI4* competitors to the 2025 Belsay International (1) Horse Trials from 15th – 18th May and entries are now open for all classes.
The Northumberland venue will host its first CCI4*-S class as the ‘Chatsworth replacement’ in mid-May this year as well its usual British Eventing Pony & Junior National Championships, running from 28th May – 1st June.
Belsay International (1), sponsored by leading London law firm Forsters LLP and wealth management company RBC Brewin Dolphin, will run two classes at international level with the CCI4*-S running dressage Friday and Saturday with cross country and showjumping on Sunday and the CCI2*-S running dressage on Thursday and Friday with cross country and showjumping on Saturday.
There are also national level classes with Novice classes running all phases on Saturday and Advanced running dressage on Saturday with cross country and showjumping on Sunday. The event is also hosting a Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Qualifier for 4YO and 5YO horses.
The cross country course for Belsay (1), designed by Adrian Ditcham, will take a different direction to previous international events here, with a new start and finish located adjacent to the International Arena.
“The cross country course will feature a mix of natural, fixed and portable obstacles, including our two established water complexes, but using different ground throughout” says Belsay organiser Laura de Wesselow “The CCI4*-S and Advanced tracks will run over totally new terrain through Belsay’s Bantom woodland. Every care and attention will be given to the preparation of the ground both on the cross country course and in the dressage and show jumping arenas”
Entries are now open on the British Eventing website with a ballot date of 22nd April 2025 and spectator tickets for both events at Belsay at now available to purchase here
