NAF Five Star Hartpury International Horse Trials cross country videos
Competition is underway at the NAF Five Star Hartpury International Horse Trials incorporating the British Eventing Championships (6th – 10th August 2025) with two winners already decided and one dressage leader already on the score board.
The Dubarray of Ireland Burghley Horse Trials Young Event Horse Qualifiers took place on Tuesday with Max Warburton and Monbeg Can Do winning the 5YO Qualifier and Pippa Funnell’s Billy Advance taking the 4YO Qualifier, the last qualifiers to take place before the big finals at Defender Burghley Horse Trials on Friday 5th September.
The first horse inspection for the NAF Metazone CCI2*-L took place on Wednesday morning before the first 15 combinations took to the arena with Kitty King (GBR) and seven-year-old Kilcoltrim Cooley sitting at the top of the leaderboard on a score of 29.6 at the end of the first day of competition.
Competitors from New Zealand are liberally sprinkled throughout the entries alongside a few Australian entries at Hartpury this year and Samantha Lissington (NZL), who has just moved into the top 10 of the FEI Eventing World Rankings, currently sits in fifth place on board Chakita.
Gemma Stevens won the CCI2*-L class at Hartpury last year riding Cooley Couture but she is focusing on the NAF Five Star Magic CCI4*S this year with three strong entries in Flash Cooley, CCI4* winner at Millstreet in May, Cooley Park Muze, winner of the recent Eventers Challenge at Hickstead and Chilli King, runner-up in the CCI4* at Thoresby International early in the season.
The defending 4* Champion, Bubby Upton is also back. Last year she won on board Cola III, who returns this year along with It's Cooley Time, runner-up last year, and Magic Roundabout IV.
Gemma and Chilli King will be the first competitors into Hartpury’s International dressage arena on Friday morning to kick off the 4*-S competition. The CCI2*-L dressage also continues tomorrow followed by the first dressage session for the British Intermediate Championship and dressage also starts for the NAF Five Star Superflex CCI3*L in the Hartpury arena on Thursday afternoon after their first horse inspection.
Check back tomorrow for the first of our full reports with lots of photos from Hartpury University and College in Gloucestershire!
