Join us at the Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby Park from 31st March – 2nd April where there is plenty for everyone, not just the riders, to look forward to

The early season event, that replaced the long-running Belton Horse Trials, is the first International on the British Eventing calendar and provides the perfect preparation run for those aiming for Badminton Horse Trials CCI5* in May.

We’ll get a good look at many of the world’s top riders and horses tackling the cross country designed by Stuart Buntine, assisted by Captain Mark Phillips, after a very slow start to the season due to the cancellation of Oasby (1) and two days at Cirencester Park (1)

The dressage and show jumping for the international classes will be in the Walled Garden and on the sweeping lawns in front of Thoresby Hall and the feature class, the Lycetts Grantham Cup CCI4*-S, comes to a head with the cross-country finale on Sunday after show jumping earlier in the day and dressage on Friday and Saturday.

Set in the heart of north Nottinghamshire (so of course, you get to meet some of Robin Hood's characters thanks to the Sherwood Outlaws presenting archery and battle demonstrations), the event site is overlooked by Thoresby Hall Hotel and attractions are spread throughout the Estate.

A classic car meet will showcase over 500 rare and restored automobiles or take a ride around the grounds on the mini-railway before watching the Blacksmiths Display, Shire Horse Display, Polo at Thoresby, just to mention a few

And of course, there’s also plenty of great food options, hospitality (including the new Allstar B Enclosure) and shopping! But our main focus will be on the eventing action that not only hosts the Lycetts Grantham Cup CCI4*-S but also CCI3*, CCI2*, Advanced, Intermediate and Novice classes

Piggy March riding Brookfield Inocent was the winner of the 2022 Lycetts Grantham Cup, the first time it was held at Thoresby, but winners have come from many nations, including Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Ireland and the USA in just the past 10 years

With a start list of 148 in the CCI4*-S and some of the top riders in the world competing, we’re bound to see a tight competition.

World Champions Yasmin Ingham and Banzai Du Loir will be competing along with World Number One Tim Price on Coup De Coeur Dudevin, Laura Collett on several rides including London 52, Mollie Summerland and Alex Bragg, who have both won the Polly Phillips Memorial Trophy at this event, Aussies Bill Levett and Sarah Clark both having a pre-Badminton run and too many more to mention but you can check them all out here
