Sadly, the fourth day of Oasby (1) Horse Trials in Lincolnshire had to be cancelled on Sunday 10th March.
After three days of great competition which saw many of the big names in eventing back on course (read our Thursday and Friday reports) heavy rain overnight on Saturday forced the abandonment of the event.
“We’re really sorry to have to make that call” says Stuart Buntine of BEDE Events who says the ground was too wet and dangerous after the heavy rain.
“We’ve had three good days, which is no compensation I know for those meant to be coming today and we’re really sorry.”
BEDE Events, which has its own insurance policy in place across its events, has promised refunds as soon as possible.
“Let’s hop this isn’t a sign of things to come” says Stuart with two days of competition (here and Epworth) cancelling in the first two weeks of the British Eventing season.
The next BEDE Events competition is at The Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby Park, the first FEI competition of the year in the UK.
