Frenchfield (2) Horse Trials 2023 Preview

An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at Burnham Market (2) – find out more here

Two British weekend events this week have dropped down to one day due to low entries with Burnham Market (2) and Frenchfield (2) Horse Trials both struggling to get the numbers by the dates required.

At opposite ends of the country, no doubt both organisers are feeling disappointed, and Douglas Weymouth of Cumbria Events has taken the opportunity to remind riders that “The lead in time to secure contractors, volunteers, judges and officials is not 14 days but typically 100 days and we now pay British Eventing a deposit six months in advance and reserve dates around 12 months in advance. Our series of events are small, we need to be organised and all assistance is most appreciated.”

Although the entries were slow before Ballot Date, ironically, the one day of competition at Frenchfield (2) on Saturday 9th is now completely full, with waitlists for all classes. The event will now run BE80, BE90, BE100 and Novice classes with Emily King, Sam Ecrroyd, Alex Hua Tian and Emily Orpwood among the higher level entries.

There will also be schooling on the cross country courses available on Sunday – contact Cumbria Events for more info and booking details
