As in 2024, Daisy Berkeley and Diese Du Figuier once again took second place in the Intermediate Novice at Larkhill Horse Trials, but this year Daisy had to give up the winning spot to Norway’s Yasmin Olsson Payne riding Canalatto Denfer.

Yasmin and her 10-year-old gelding started in third place after dressage but overtook the leader after dressage, Bubby Upton riding Hestyl Van Beek Z, with clears all the way, finishing on their dressage score of 25.2. Hector Payne riding Global Lovestory took third place, Ella Lucas riding My Good Morning finished fourth while Hong Kong’s Yuxuan Su claimed fifth place on Venture.

Harry Meade is a big fan of the Larkhill ground and course, training his horses here in the off-season, and he recouped the hard work put in by taking two wins in the Open Novice Section C on board MBF Touch Your Toes and the Novice Section B riding Nashville.

Australia’s Sammi Birch also had a good day at the office with four horses in the Novice sections and Parkfield Pumpkin claiming Team Birch’s first win of the season, after taking second place at Oasby (1) Horse Trials. Sammi and Parkfield Pumpkin won the Novice Section A on their dressage score of 23 while Rosa’s Party took third in the same section, Lazio PFB claimed fifth in the Novice Section B and Gracie De La Rose eighth in the Open Novice Section C.

Bubby may have missed out in the Intermediate Novice but she claimed the BE100 Section F riding Diamantus 3 and William Fox-Pitt, who has hung up his boots from top level riding, showed that he still has all the moves, winning the BE100 Section E on board Hardingville Lagoon, who won a BE90 here last year ridden by his owner Vicky Brake, before William took over the ride.

Pau CCI5* winner Caroline Harris won the BE90 Open Section H riding Fairlight Andretti and Tonia Ainsworth claimed the BE90 Section G riding her own Creevaghstables Chillipepper.

Tomorrow's action at Larkhill Raccourse sees more BE100 and Novice classes, including an Open Novice U18 and Pony Trial Novice – check on back for a quick update and full wrap up next week.
