20-year-old Josh Levett, son of Australian eventing rider Bill Levett, will be celebrating with an appropriately named horse after he took the win in the CCI3*-S at Aspen Cooling Osberton International Horse Trials on Saturday.
Riding Elisabeth Murdoch’s 16-year-old gelding This One On You, a horse Josh took over from his dad four years ago, the pair won the class on their dressage score of 28.3 ahead of China’s Alex Hua Tian riding Manjushri (28.9) and Anya Strilkowski riding K (29.2) while Josh also claimed fourth place with Huberthus AC, previously Bill’s 5* horse.
Another Australian connection came in the form of the currently UK based Gemma Tinney and PHS Hilton who had their first international completion since taking third place in the CCI3*-L at Adelaide this time last year before heading overseas, having a gentle run around cross country to finish mid-field in the big class.
It was a day for talented young riders and experienced horses with Oscar Fitzgerald riding Super Cillious, the horse ridden by Vittoria Panizzon at Tokyo 2020, winning the CCI2*-S, again on their dressage score of 27.7 ahead of Jago Jackson on board Barrington Highlight K and Annabel Finston on Camee De Muze.
The CCI2*-S for Ponies also wrapped up on Saturday with Florence Drewitt and Crossgales Into The Blu taking the win.
