Entries are open for the Aspen Cooling Osberton (1) Horse Trials (22nd – 24th May) with extra incentives on offer for leading riders, ‘Frequent Flyers’ and retrained racehorses.
With boosts to prize money always a welcome sight, BEDE Events confirmed an £8,000 boost to the prize fund across both their spring international fixtures at the Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby in April and Aspen Cooling Osberton (1).
Through a partnership with Succeed, a new Leading Rider prize has been created at both fixtures, with Lizzie Baugh taking the first £500 cheque at Thoresby. Placing points will also be awarded to each rider at Osberton (1), with the top point scorer taking home the cash bonus.
There are a host of competition levels to choose from with classes at BE90, BE100, BE105, Novice and Intermediate, including RoR sections at some levels plus the CCI2*-S, CCI3*-S and CCI1*-S Pony, providing plenty of opportunities to amass points.
The RoR Championships will be contested at BE90, BE100 and Novice levels, with prize winners at each level receiving enhanced prize money, in addition to prizes in kind. To qualify, horse and rider combinations will need to achieve a minimum of two MERs at any standard British Eventing competition between 1st March 2025 and 26th April 2026.
The new Spring Bonus will reward BEDE’s frequent flyers with substantial prizes in kind bundles, in dedicated BE90, BE100 and Novice sections on Sunday 24th May.
“We know prize money in eventing often falls far behind that of our friends in show jumping, so anything we can do to work with our generous sponsors to increase prize funds is a bonus” says Event Director Stuart Buntine “ In creating these new initiatives, we can bring bonus prize money to those at BE90, BE100 and Novice, and not just those competing at the highest levels”
“I’d love it if the leading rider prize was won from someone competing outside of the 3* and 4*!” he adds.
