The Aspen Cooling Osberton International (1) Horse Trials 2025 on the Osberton Estate in Nottinghamshire is taking place this week (1st – 4th May) with the top class, the CCI3*-S starting on Thursday.
China’s Alex Hua Tian will be a busy man in the CCI3*-S with four horses competing, including the Chilli Morning clone, Chilli Morning III. The pair won a Novice section here last year and have started this season well with second place in the Intermediate at Kelsall Hill recently so will be ones to watch, along with Alex’s other three – Cooley On Ice, Manjushri and Poseidons Admiral.
Australia’s Gemma Tinney will also be having a hit out here with PHS Hilton in their first international run of the year.
The CCI2*-S is packed with up-and-coming horses and riders but also a couple of horses that have certainly ‘been there, done that’. Kazuma Tomoto’s bronze winning team horse at Paris 2024 Vinci De La Vigne will be skipping around Osberton (1) in the 2* with his new rider, Japan’s Ryo Murata, who will also be competing another past Kazu ride in Brookpark Vikenti. The CCI2* Pony Trial is also very well subscribed with many no doubt making Belsay (2) International Pony Championship their next goal.
Ros Canter and her 2023 Pau winner are heading to the first ever CCI4*-S at Belsay (1) in a few weeks’ time but first they are having a run in the Advanced Intermediate at Osberton, which runs on Friday.
