Philippa Skelton and Brian Boru III moved up from third place after dressage at the NAF Five Star BE80 Championship at Bramham Park to take the win on their dressage score of 29.8

After battling it out in the dressage arenas for the first two days of competition, the 53 competitors who had qualified at events around the country for the prestigious BE80 Championship moved into the show jumping and cross country phases on Thursday.

The overnight leader, Helen White riding EPA Murray added four faults in the show jumping then withdrew from cross country and at the end of the final phase, it was Philippa and Brian Boru III who moved into the top spot with a clean sheet in both jumping phases

Emily Gaskell and Callowfeenish Cailin, in fourth place after the dressage had taken an early lead in the cross country phase, finishing on their dressage score of 30 penalties and only Philippa was able to move ahead of her when Amelia Maycock riding Carnsdale Ghostbuster, second after dressage, picked up time penalties on course

Coming home clear inside the time pair had the round of their lives and came home to finish on their dressage score of 29.8 and to be crowned the NAF Five Star BE80 Champions.

“It was definitely a meaty course but I had the best ride I’ve ever had,” said Philippa. “He was absolutely amazing”

Emily Gaskell and Callowfeenish Cailin took the runner up spot and another strong jumping performance moved Nicky Tyrrell and Petlin Jessica into third, finishing on their dressage score of 30.1.
