Raring to go at Richmond Horse Trials 2020

An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at

Richmond (2) 2020 - find out more here

In 2018 Richmond Equestrian Centre changed ownership with Andrew and Abigail Turnbull taking over the reins and the running of the British Eventing competitions held here twice a year, but little did they know what the next two years would hold!

Situated between the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, Richmond Equestrian Centre is set in nearly 120 acres, providing a picturesque equestrian venue with some of the best facilities in the North of England.

The Turnbulls have continued to develop the cross country courses and attract new riders, sponsors and local spectators but they have also had their fair share of bad luck since taking over the property with a case of Strangles bringing things to a halt and then Covid-19

However, it is full steam ahead for Richmond Horse Trials this week and the entry lists are looking fabulous.

World Number One Oliver Townend will be bringing 15 horses across the grades with Glamour Girl and Innislusky Paddy in the Intermediate classes on Friday. He doesn’t have an entry in the Open Intermediate but that section will certainly provide some great competition with World Champion Ros Canter riding Pencos Crown Jewel, local Olympian Nicola Wilson riding Erano M, China’s Alex Hua Tian riding both DHI Jetset and Jilsonne Van Bareelhof and Ben Hobday riding his British Open champion, Shadow Man II, to name just a few very talented combinations

There are also two Novice classes running on Friday and four more on Saturday along with the 5-Year-Old class, with Ben Hobday’s young star Shadow Kingsman and Nicola Wilson’s Wolf Athena definitely ones to watch in that class, and two sections each of BE100 and BE90

Sunday rounds out three days of competition in beautiful North Yorkshire with the BE100 and BE90 competitors returning, including the young guns in the BE100 and BE90 U18 classes. We are delighted to be sponsoring the BE100 Open U18 Section R, along with the Novice Section H on Friday and the Open Novice U18 Section P on Saturday and there will be cross country video prizes each day for three classes

We’ll also be bringing you snippets of action on our social media pages during each day, a quick daily update and a full wrap up after the event and of course some fabulous footage next week

We’re very happy to be back at Richmond and it’s certainly time to celebrate, even if it is in a socially distanced way!
