Swalcliffe Park (1) Horse Trials 2025 cross country videos
A completely new track awaits competitors at the first British Eventing Swalcliffe Park Horse Trials of the year. The courses at BE90, BE90Open, BE100, BE100Open, Novice, Open Novice and Intermediate Novice levels designed and built by Richard Taylor are ready for this weekend’s event (12th & 13th July) with ‘a huge amount done on the course’ including watering and aggravating the ground.
Saturday at Swalcliffe Park (1) Horse Trials will see five sections of BE90, including a BE90 Open and GOBE section, and four sections of BE100, including a BE100 Open and GEBE100. Valerie Pool riding Flashbrook Quintessential, winners of the BE90 Open at the recent Kingston Maurward College Horse Trials, are stepping up to their first BE100 Open together here while the BE90 Open will see some hot competition with Willa Newton, Ben Way and Michael Owen among the big names.
We’re delighted to see Captain Mary Pearson on the BE90 entry list too, following our recent article with Brian Leung who explained how eventing and being in the Armed Forces is the perfect combination and Hong Kong’s YuXuan Su is also competing in this class on a new ride, Pontoon Match.
Legendary eventing rider Mary King is one of the competitors in the Intermediate Novice on Sunday with her homebred Kings Belief while the daughter of another legend, Isabelle Cook, is riding in the Novice sections, along with another talented young rider and the recently crowned British Pony Eventing Champion Annabel Ridgway
