Emily King and David Doel shared the spoils in the Open Intermediate classes at the 2026 Oasby (1) Horse Trials on Wednesday 11th March.
Emily and Valmy Biats took back-to-back wins, following up their OI win here in 2025 by taking the OI Section J, starting on a very impressive dressage score of 22.7 and adding just 5.6 time penalties on cross country to finish on 28.3 ahead of Heidi Coy riding Halenza (32.3) and Sara Bowe riding Rinwood MJ (38.2).
David Doel has been doing some warm-up events in Europe, as he often starts his season, and it paid off with Galileo Nieuwmoed winning the OI Section I (35.8) and Midnight Rollercoaster taking second place (40.2) ahead of Tom Strawson riding Public Address (41.0).
Argentina’s Sebastian Roldan Olivera had a good day at the office, taking two Novice sections on board Oughterard Sky Special and Mister Cotton Candy, with both finishing on their dressage score. Gemma Stevens was also on hot form, with Looking Chilli taking the BE100 Section A and Chillis Joker winning the BE100 Open Section D.
We’ll be back with another update from Thursday’s competition and our full report, plus of course cross country videos, next week!
