Vale Parklane Hawk

Parklane Hawk, a double CCI4* (now 5*) winner with William Fox-Pitt has died aged 22

The winner of Burghley in 2011 and Kentucky in 2012, the thoroughbred Parklane Hawk started his career in New Zealand where he also won some good classes early in his career at Taupo and Horse of the Year with Matthew Grayling. Spotted by Joanne Bridgeman as a potential horse for William, he was purchased by Catherine Witt and travelled to compete in the UK with William

The 2011 CCI4* win on Parklane Hawk gave William his sixth Burghley title but, aside from his exceptional career record, one of the rides that he is well remembered for is at Burnham Market International in 2016, even though he only finished in 24th place

William was making his return to eventing following a serious injury and two clear but steady rides around the cross country on his ‘two old pros’ Cool Mountain and Parklane Hawk meant that he was well and truly back in the sport

“They are both old pros and literally carried me round – I only had to hold on,” he claimed after his ride “It's a great relief to finish in one piece and feeling good.”
