The 2025 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) have just wrapped up with National Champions crowned at all levels.
Held at Galway Downs in California, originally touted as the host venue for the equestrian disciplines at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games before Santa Anita Park took the plum role, from 27th – 31st August, it was Tommy Greengard riding That’s Me Z who took the $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final. Producing the only sub-30 score in the dressage for the lead, Tommy followed it up with a strong cross-country performance yesterday over Clayton Fredericks' course, giving them a margin of 16.3 penalties heading into the showjumping finale.
Two rails down were still enough for them to take the win ahead of Karen O’Neal riding Clooney 14, who finished with one rail down while Megan McIver and Igor B finished in third place with the only clear jumping round. Australia’s Bec Braitling riding Caravaggio II took sixth place.
James Alliston riding HMR Rolan claimed the USEA Open Intermediate Championship.
The event also marked one year since the accident at the 2024 American Eventing Championships, when US Olympic rider Liz Halliday suffered serious head trauma during a cross country fall. As Liz continues her recovery and rehabilitation, we are thinking of her and hoping to see her back at events soon.
