The drawn order has been revealed for the 2025 Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by MARS Equestrian with New Zealand’s Tim Price riding Jarillo the trailblazer for the event at Kentucky Horse Park, April 24-27.
With three horses currently in the field, Tim also has Happy Boy at number 20 and third last to go with 5* winner Falco at number 38. He is joined by fellow Kiwis Clarke Johnstone riding Menlo Park at number nine, his wife Jonelle riding Hiarado at number 14 and Monica Spencer riding Artist at number 25.
Boyd Martin and Harry Meade, originally listed with three horses, also top and tail the field but Harry has now confirmed on social media that only two - Grafennacht and Et Hop Du Matz - are travelling to Kentucky.
Tim and Harry also still have horses on the entry list for Badminton Horse Trials two weeks’ later.
Australia’s Bec Braitling riding Caravaggio II and Ema Klugman riding Bronte Beach Z will ride as numbers 32 and 36 respectively while four-time Kentucky champion, Germany’s Michael Jung will start at Number eight on fischerChipmunk FRH.
The World Number One Tom McEwen now has just one ride entered with Brookfield Quality while his Olympic partner JL Dublin has been withdrawn to start at Badminton, as Tom told us at Thoresby Park recently.
As well as Tom’s JL Dublin, last year’s Luhmuhlen winners Belgium’s Lara de Liedekerke-Meyer and Hooney D’Arville and Ireland’s Joseph Murphy are now focussed on Badminton Horse Trials while the USA’s Hannah Sue Holberg has moved her entry on Carsonstown to the Cosequin CCI4*-S start list at Kentucky.
