Venice Beach to host Australia House at LA28

Venice Beach and its iconic status on the world stage will play host as the backdrop for Australia House during the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Just weeks after confirming an Australia House would be a prominent fixture during the LA28 Games – the first of its kind since the Sydney 2000 Games – Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee (Brisbane 2032) President Andrew Liveris joined tourism, government and business operatives for a first-look precinct tour.

“When we were identifying possible locations for our very own Australia House, Venice Beach was a standout,” Mr Liveris said.

“The sun, sand and surf, laidback lifestyle, constant tourist buzz, not to mention quite a few Aussies that have set up home in the local area made our decision easy.

“We’re ecstatic to have secured a location with such an iconic backdrop that depicts a lot of similarities to the nature and lifestyle that we’ll promote to the world in 2032.”

Mr Liveris, who joined Brisbane 2032 CEO Cindy Hook in LA28 meetings and to promote Brisbane 2032’s progress at G’Day USA celebrations, said discussions were already underway with interested parties looking to be part of Australia House during the LA28 Games.

“We’re planning a range of cultural experiences, events and themes showcasing the very best of Brisbane, Queensland and Australia during the Games and there are quite a few Olympic and Paralympic sports planned to take place right near Australia House, adding to the overall experience,” Mr Liveris said.

“Australia House will be the home away from home for our Aussie Olympians and Paralympians to enjoy and celebrate with family, friends and fans and I have no doubt that our House will be a must visit during the LA28 Games.

“We’re already speaking to a host of well-known Aussies and businesses about our presence in LA28, not only as part of Australia House, but also as part of the Olympic and Paralympic Games closing ceremonies, when the world’s attention will pivot to Brisbane and Queensland ahead of 2032.

“I’m looking forward to announcing our plans and progress over the next two years and I encourage tourism bodies and businesses to reach out to Brisbane 2032 if they’re interested in being part of what will be the biggest sporting spectacle on the planet in 2028.”

Australia House will be situated on Windward Avenue, metres from the famous Venice Beach skatepark and boardwalk.
