Tim Price heading to Maryland CCI5 Star 2022

New Zealand’s Tim Price has joined the list of entries set to compete at the MARS Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill Presented by Brown Advisory.

Fresh off his double Bronze Medal performance at the FEI Eventing World Championship at Pratoni 2022, Tim will be riding the 10-year-old gelding Coup De Coeur Dudevin, a past ride of Chris Burton, who will be having his first start at this level

He is now the second rider from New Zealand on the CCI5* start list, with entries closing today (Friday 30th September). No Australian entries have yet been received

Following his third-place finish at the inaugural Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill last year, Tim will join his fellow podium finisher and previously announced entry Oliver Townend (GBR), who finished second last year. Of course, both their eyes are on the top spot for this year’s event and both riders will be looking to protect and improve on their current points for World Rankings, with Tim looking to move up from his #3 spot on the FEI Eventing World Athlete Rankings, with just one point between him and World #2 Piggy March (GBR), and Oliver looking to maintain his #1 spot

Additional international stars on the entry list include Leslie Law, a two-time British Olympic veteran who won individual Gold in 2004; 2016 Olympic veteran Astier Nicolas of France; and Great Britain’s Harry Meade.

The entire U.S. World Championship Silver Medal team from Pratoni 2022 are also competing at the event across the various classes;

Will Coleman – 2012 Olympic veteran ranked #8 in the world

Boyd Martin – three-time Olympic veteran ranked #7 in the world; inaugural Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill winner

Lauren Nicholson – 2016 Olympic veteran ranked #17 in the world

Tamie Smith – 2021 Olympic veteran ranked #29 in the world

Other top U.S. riders vying for the podium are 2021 Olympian Doug Payne, Buck Davidson, seven-time Olympic veteran Philip Dutton, Liz Halliday-Sharp and Jennie Brannigan.
