The Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby Park kicks off the British international eventing season each year, hosting the first FEI CCI4* competition of the UK eventing calendar in late March/early April.

Organised by BEDE Events, the FEI CCI4*-S class is often a “Who’s Who” of eventing with British and international elite eventing riders and their horses keen to show their form after the winter break.

The Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby Park

Thoresby Park took over as the venue for the Eventing Spring Carnival in 2020 when the former venue at Belton Park, owned by the National Trust, withdrew from hosting the event after 30 years.

The early season event hosts not only FEI international level classes but also National eventing classes from Novice to Advanced, with the higher-level classes considered important prep runs for the Spring CCI5* at Badminton Horse Trials

The CCI4*-S class incorporates the prestigious Grantham Cup, sponsored by Lycett’s Insurance since 2013, and the Polly Phillipps Memorial Trophy is awarded to the highest placed combination who have not previously represented Team GB on a senior championship team.

In 2025 Emily King made history with back-to-back wins of both the Grantham Cup and the Polly Phillipps Memorial Trophy riding her horse Valmy Biats.

The Eventing Spring Carnival is also a popular outing for many families with entertainment, shopping and plenty of eating options. In 2025 the event will host a Gundog Scurry, Vintage Tractor Show, Pet A Pony, Hobby Horse competitions and ‘Kids In The Courtyard’ offering a host of options for the family to get involved with.

Hawkstone Brewery (of Clarkson’s Farm fame) will be sponsoring the British Polo Gin marquee, where you can find a delicious array of drinks across the weekend and the Warner Hotels Thoresby Hall, overlooking the event, offers food and accommodation options.

BEDE Events run multiple events throughout the year at various venues, including Osberton International and the Agria Oasby series, with the BEDE Eventing Leagues linking them in a points-based competition run throughout the season. Two leagues will be run in 2025 – the Agria 100 League and Eco Voltz League plus recognition for Highest Placed Amateurs, Highest Placed RoR and Highest Placed EHOA Members throughout the season.

Hobby Horse competitions will be added to the line-up of family fun and entertainment at the Eventing Spring Carnival 2025 at Thoresby Park | An Eventful Life
