An Eventful Life is filming at Equestriad at Camden CCI – order your full cross country video here
If Oliver Barrett were not leading the CCI4*-L at the Agria Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials, we’re pretty sure we know where he’d be competing this weekend instead – Equestriad at Camden in NSW, Australia.
The second Equestriad of the year, this time the CCI that runs classes from EvA50 to CCI4*-S, is a firm favourite on the Australian eventing calendar and will see approximately 500 combinations taking part this weekend at Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park. It’s going to be another hot weekend for so early in the season; as at the recent Sydney Eventing Spring Classic, we’re expecting temperatures in the low 30’s on both days of competition (19th & 20th September).
The Camden Council CCI4*-S has attracted 12 combinations including the very experienced combinations of Emma Mason and KPH Kingfisher and last year’s CCI4* winner here, Andrew Barnett on Oscar Park Deluge and, at the other end of the scale, a ‘newbie’ in Niki Rose’s eight-year-old Cooley All Over, stepping up to 4* for the first time with Shane in the saddle.
Shane is also competing in the Camden Council CCI3*-S on Cat Fish but he’ll be up against the in-form Hannah Rockwell riding Hermes Des Brandieres who pipped him at Sydney Eventing CCN3*. There are returners and newbies in this section too with Shenae Lowings moving the seven-year-old Sandhills Shiver up to 3* and bringing the talented 12-year-old chestnut mare Dotti back up the levels after some time off. Gemma Tinney’s PHS Hilton, who showed very good form at Sydney Eventing, will also be having his first CCI3* start since Osberton in the UK last year.
The 2* is being run as a national class with 33 combinations in the Leader Equine CCN2*-S, two sections of CCN1*-S, three sections of EvA95, a massive five sections of EvA65, four EvA80 sections and one EvA50 – phew!
No doubt everyone will be inspired by Oliver Barrett’s performance at Blenheim Palace and be pulling off dressage PB’s all over the place this weekend and there is still a Barrett on the entry list at Camden with Oliver’s younger brother Jesper competing in the CCN1* on another Sandhills star, Sandhills Gem.
The EvA50 and EvA80 competitors head out on cross country on Saturday with all other classes going cross country on Sunday. We’ll be filming all competitors on cross country so keep an eye on our socials and check back here each day for updates.
